From our first president, John Hanson, whom Congress named “President of the United States in Congress Assembled” under the Articles of Confederation, to our most recent, George W. Bush, whose distant relative John Howland nearly drowned while crossing the Atlantic on the Mayflower, The Greatest Presidential Stories Never Told features 100 extraordinary true stories that will delight even the most studious readers. There is John Tyler, the only president to commit a public act of treason against the U.S. government (he served in the Confederate Congress); Woodrow Wilson, the only president to be psychoanalyzed by Sigmund Freud; and Ulysses S. Grant, the only president ever to receive a speeding ticket (his careening one-horse carriage earned him a fine of $20, which he paid on the spot). A hugely entertaining collection that ranges from the quizzical, such as George Washington’s famous whiskey distillery, to the near fatal, including the pocketed speech that saved Theodore Roosevelt’s life by stopping an assassin’s bullet, The Greatest Presidential Stories Never Told truly lives up to its name. A great gift and a hugely entertaining read, this one belongs in every history lover’s hands.

Doesn't go into a lot of detail. A good book to read at night to go to sleep. No matter if you fall asleep halfway reading something, you haven't missed much. Just go to next section. Ok but not really fascinating.

I loved this book. It is incredibly readable, and hard to put down. As a history student, I found this book a wonderful journey through presidential history. It was informatve and well written. As a retired minister, this book is a great source for lesson illustrations.

This is the type of book that is really fun to read. The trivia facts are truly amazing and makes you wonder why it took this book for you to learn about them. The illustrations really add to the colorfulness of the stories. Each story a real treat and always an eye opener.

I actually bought the book for my dad. He read half of it in one day. He said some of the stories were ones he had heard before, but he loved the format and the stories.
It was the perfect birthday gift!!
